After delivery to a commercial shipyard near the delivery base, the individual modules are assembled together.
A CVN camel consists of five individual modules.
The front fender panels are assembled to the ship side module. The fenders have UHMW-PE for low friction contact with the hull.
The fender panels are backed by rubber element fenders to compress during the berthing impact.

FRP Composite Camels
A camel consists of five modules and the front interface panel. Each module consists of many composite panels that are bonded together. The module size allows it to be transported over the road. The modules are assembled into the full camel at a shipyard near the base.
