Location: Cleveland, OH

Project: GCRTA East 79th Street Station

Product: Mass Transit Platforms

Overview: For the rehabilitation of this station, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority selected long-lasting FRP platform panels. The center platform is 254 feet long and 10 feet wide. Fifteen panels just under 17 feet long were 5.75 inches thick and weighed 15 psf. Panels were crowned in the center for water drainage. Warning tactiles and rub rails were attached in the shop. After installation, benches, and equipment were bolted to the platform panels. The non-slip surface was gray quartz aggregate. Other features were cutouts for lights and a complex slope at the platform ends to meet the existing elevations of the station.
