Location: Long Beach, NY

Project: Boardwalk Replacement Project

Product: Sheet Piles

Overview: The 2.5-mile Long Beach Boardwalk was severely damaged in October of 2012 during Hurricane Sandy and had to be replaced. Creative Pultrusions was selected to supply over 6,600 pieces of SUPERLOC 1580 sheet pile in 20-foot lengths. The sheet pile was used as a retaining wall to protect the boardwalk from future devastating storms. CPI had to meet a very tight schedule and to keep contractors on pace, as the seawall construction was the first of multiple parts in the project. The first of 23 total truckloads of SuperLoc was shipped in early May 2013, and shipment was completed by the end of July.

CPI was also contracted to supply 16 composite SUPERPILES, each 60 feet in length, for the project. The piles were installed to support new concrete support bents. The project engineer chose SUPERLOC and SUPERPILE for its long life, low maintenance, and environmental friendliness.
