Overview: The wooden fender system at Route 3 over the Piankatank River had deteriorated from exposure to the harsh marine environment. Creative Pultrusions supplied 116 fiberglass pipe piles, each 16 inches in diameter, which were installed by a local contractor. The project also involved value engineering the fiberglass pipe piles into the project, including a full Pile Dynamic Analysis (PDA), full section testing, and verification of material properties and energy absorption capabilities.
