With a high content of glass fiber reinforcements, TuffSpan fiberglass deck has the strength and stiffness needed for structural concrete and reliably supports heavy, wet concrete during building erection. The reinforcements are embedded within a vinyl ester resin system that provides enhanced strength retention at high temperatures in addition to outstanding corrosion resistance. The fire retardant material has a Class I flame spread rating of 25 or less per ASTM E84 testing.

Where It's Used
TuffSpan form deck is a strong solution in two distinct applications.
It's better than metal in industrial facilities that handle corrosive chemicals and have multiple floors or mezzanines. Used as a temporary shoring for pouring concrete, the TuffSpan deck stays in place as a permanent, lightweight, corrosion-resistant liner after the concrete cures.
TuffSpan is an excellent choice for lesser-load bridge designs, especially those spanning brackish water or that are salted in winter. The form decking remains in place as permanent corrosion protection.
Case Study: Waco Suspension Bridge
The historic Waco Suspension Bridge in Texas was in desperate need of a facelift after its last rehabilitation in 1914. The engineering team used the 2021 update to add greater corrosion resistance to the pedestrian-only bridge. TuffSpan delivered superior strength, stiffness and corrosion resistance at a lighter weight than steel and a more permanent solution than panels or planks.
