Our piling wrap can lengthen the life of your existing piles. Repair and protection of pilings and structures built with traditional materials (timber, steel, and concrete) is our specialty. Piles along waterfront areas tend to rot, rust, and spall. As a consequence, engineers and customers are increasingly using FRP to provide a long-term solution.
Our resin system is designed to be applied above and below the waterline. So, it will cure in temperatures as low as 55 degrees and up to 100 degrees. Due to our specialty resin systems and reinforcing fabrics (E-glass or carbon in a range of weights and laminate orientations), we can prevent further saltwater intrusion. As a result, we can provide steel piles and the rebar inside of reinforced concrete piles with a longer lifespan. In addition, our piling wrap prevents marine borers and worms from tunneling into timber piles.
Depending on the situation, we will design protective fiberglass or carbon pile wrap. We do this to seal off the existing pile from the environmental condition causing the degradation to the pile. Most noteworthy, this preventative measure will stop any further corrosion or decay. As a result, the properties of the parent pile will be conserved.
On occasion, a situation may arise where the marine piling has had more significant damage. In those cases, we can design a wrap that can recover the piling properties and above all, add structural integrity. Our pile wrapping system works in both fresh and saltwater environments. Consequently, it performs well in areas that see icing in the winter months or UV in the summer months.
