Things happen in mysterious ways—Bob Sweet is surely smiling above.
On Thursday, August 21st, the Creative Composites Group hosted its 47th Annual Supplier Golf Outing — a cherished tradition that brings together great people, great fun and most importantly, great causes.
Supporting a Cause That Matters
This year’s golf outing continued our tradition of the 50/50 charity raffle, with proceeds directly benefiting the Bedford County Pink Ribbon Fund, a local organization dedicated to supporting the fight against breast cancer by providing assistance and resources to patients in need. I'd like to give a special thanks to Perci Fungaroli, who selected this meaningful cause in honor of her father’s lifelong belief in giving back to those in need.

A Moment of Generosity
As the evening wound down, I threw out a challenge to raise the bar for the 50/50 charity raffle — and our CCG community responded with overwhelming generosity. By the time the winning ticket was drawn, the pot had grown to $5,732.
So who won the money? Lynn Derouen, a longtime friend and business colleague, graciously donated the entire amount back to the cause. Lynn’s selflessness is a testament to the character which he’s shown throughout his career — from our early days together at Creative Pultrusions and SeaSafe in 1989 to his current leadership of the CCG Molding Division since 2020.

The Ripple Effect
But the story doesn't end there... Just days later, Michael Shires informed me that Hill & Smith would match the donation through their Matching Funds Program. This donation brought the total to $11,464 for the Bedford County Pink Ribbon Fund which will help local breast cancer patients. This truly embodies the "Pay It Forward" spirit we intend to uphold and shows the impact of everyone’s generosity.

Gratitude and Celebration
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, contributed, and helped make this event truly meaningful. Special appreciation goes out to Lynn, Michael and the entire Hill & Smith team for their generosity and commitment to making a difference.
On a Lighter Note…
Michael Shires and I managed to snag a spot on the winning team yet again this year, joined by Tim Bronish (FASTepc) and Jason Takac (Superior Huntingdon Composites). That’s three years running — is it luck, skill, or maybe just some really good golf karma? Either way, we may be on a streak! Plus, I’ll miss this Pink Guy (in the photo) next year after years of a tradition!
Thank you again to everyone for attending and let's keep this tradition of generosity and community strong. I look forward to many more years of making a meaningful difference together!
