What does springtime remind YOU of? Flowers? BBQ? Allergies?

Here at Composite Advantage, spring means...parks and construction!

One of our first projects this spring is a trail bridge in Beavercreek Township's Phillips Park, just outside Dayton, Ohio. The park's deteriorating wooden bridge has been out of service for several years. This winter, the township added it to their priority list, and contacted us to request that we supply and install a new 45-foot long bridge. Since the township needs a no-maintenance structure, we decided to go with a weathered steel truss bridge and an FRP composite deck.

Last week, as the cold weather and rain (finally) subsided, our installation partner, FRP Constructors, poured the concrete abutments. The creek was still swollen from spring rains, so we used our lightweight mats as a temporary bridge spanning the creek. We often supply these mats to the oil drilling industry.

This week, we will complete the bridge installation. Watch for more photos and posts as we make progress, and keep your fingers crossed for beautiful weather! Have questions or want more info on our FRP decks? Contact us today!
